Mirpur Board Postpones Intermediate Exams
The Mirpur Intermediate and Secondary Education Board has taken a proactive step in response to the escalating tension in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) by postponing the ongoing Intermediate examinations. The decision comes amidst anti-inflation protests that have gripped the region, prompting concerns for the safety and well-being of students and staff.
In a notification issued by the board, it was announced that the examination originally scheduled for May 13 will now commence on May 25. This postponement aims to ensure the security of students and uphold the integrity of the examination process amidst the volatile situation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep concerns regarding the unrest in AJK, emphasizing the need for a peaceful resolution to the grievances. Acknowledging the challenges posed by chaotic circumstances, he urged all stakeholders to refrain from exploiting the situation for political gain and instead advocated for dialogue and peaceful means to address the demands of the protesters.
PM Shehbaz Sharif further disclosed his engagement with the Azad Kashmir Prime Minister and directed his party’s leadership to initiate discussions with the leaders of the action committee. His proactive approach underscores the government’s commitment to fostering dialogue and finding sustainable solutions to the issues at hand.
Meanwhile, the AJK government has declared a public holiday across the region in light of the violent protests. All offices and educational institutes will remain closed on Monday, as per the government’s notification, in a bid to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent further escalation of tensions.
As the situation in AJK unfolds, it is imperative for all parties involved to prioritize peace and dialogue. The postponement of Intermediate exams by the Mirpur Board serves as a responsible measure to safeguard the interests of students amidst the prevailing uncertainty. With concerted efforts and a commitment to peaceful resolution, it is hoped that stability and normalcy will soon be restored in the region, allowing for the resumption of educational activities and fostering an environment conducive to progress and prosperity.
